Buttons Restaurant - Addison, TX
If you have spent any length of time on this blog, you will know I am a foodie through and through and although I spend a lot of time in my closet sized kitchen creating and recreating recipes, I also enjoy eating out, so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. Not so much a review, more of a "I went here, I ate that, I loved it, so I am sharing with you".
A few weeks back, I got a chance to dine at Buttons in honor of a friends' going away dinner - I have been meaning to check this place out for awhile, so when I got the invite, I rsvped immediately and not even a flu/allergy combo was gonna keep me away.
I went on a Tuesday - which happens to be the same night as the swing dance class night; there was also a private room where a comedy open mick night was happening - did not check it out. We were seated quite close to the dance floor, so I got a chance to check out some of the dance moves - I will have to plan a return trip to pick up some dance steps. The atmosphere is super laid back and they have music 7 days a week - I have never really experienced the dinner with music vibe before and I have to say I quite like it and the music was not too loud so you could still carry on conversations.
Now to the favorite bit --- the menu is packed full of soul food - everything from Ox Tail, Cat Fish (not on menu - special) and chicken and waffles. All the reviews I have read about this place recommended the chicken and waffles, so I had to give it a try. As amazingly delicious as it was, it still comes second to the chicken and waffle from the whiskey cake. Next time, I think I might try the oxtail. The staff was super nice and courteous. On our waiter's recommendation, I tried the pineapple upside down martini (and I was not dissapointed) - I think it might have also killed off some of the germs assaulting my immune system at the time - so win / win.
Ok, there you have it --- my first of many visits to Buttons captured in words. I will report back when I return to try the oxtail.
