A (RE) INTRODUCTION TO THE SIMI EDIT
Over the last two months, there have been a few new folks in this small corner of the internet I have carved out for myself; I wanted to say welcome, friend - very glad you are here. Allow me to introduce myself if you are new and (re)introduce myself if you have been here for a while.
My name is Simi like, "Simi Valley," but I am not named after "Simi Valley"; I am Nigerian by birth but have lived all of my adult life in the United States or United Kingdom (my secret goal is to live on every continent). I work full-time as an accountant/auditor and travel every chance I get (READ: Travel is the reason I have minimal savings). In this space, I share mainly my travel journey - tips, guides, and itineraries to help others with a full-time job fulfill their travel dream. I also share how I have managed to visit over 100 cities around the world on a travel limiting passport (aka I need a visa to visit most countries).
I am passionate about showing you how open the world is even with a full-time job and travel limiting passport. Beyond visiting a new destination, I believe travel changes perspective and tears down barriers. Not all travel experiences have been great; however, I will not trade-in any travel experience because it has helped shape me and made me more empathetic in general. To date, there are no sponsored posts on this page, I pay for every trip out of pocket, so if I recommend it, it is because I enjoyed it.
Pre-COVID, I posted here once a week; since COVID, it has become less about travel and less frequent. As the world starts to open up for travel again - I will ease back into a regular posting routine. I post most days on Instagram, so you should follow along there as well (@the_simi_edit). I also love food and have an Instagram page, where I share my favorite restaurants from my travels (@what.simi.eats).
Occasionally, we take a break from travel to talk life matters - if you are only here for the travel, feel free to skip those posts (lol). Because I have many more interests than travel, I will be starting a series, releasing a few Saturdays per month to share things outside of travel I am enjoying (I hope you enjoy that series). If there is any other content you will like to see, please pop it in the comment section.
