THE COTSWOLDS - WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT (IN PICTURES)

The Cotswolds is a clutter of towns and villages just two hours from London and one of those place you just have to see for yourself. There are a total of 113 villages and towns and each one has its own unique beauty. On a rainy weekend in September, I decided to finally visit this region of the Country - given 113 villages, a weekend is not nearly enough. Given the location, it is not very easily accessible by public transportation, so driving yourself is recommended or you can opt to go with a tour company like I did. If you choose a tour Company you will be limited to the stops included in the tour but it might be a great option if you are short on time and don’ want to deal with the hassle of driving. The tour stopped at four of the villages which were the most popular of the villages so I was not complaining : Burford , Bibury, Bourton-on-the-water and stow-on-the-wold. here is a pictorial argument for why you should have the Cotswolds on your itinerary the next time you are in the UK.

Since I was visiting a tour group, I did nt spend much time on itineraries, I followed their recommendations on some stops and on others I just had a wander around the village to find something that caught my eyes. If you are trying to do this on your own and need some guidances, here are a few stops I recommend:

  • Burford: Three french hens antique shop

  • Burford: Church of St. John the Baptist

  • Burford: Huffkins Bakery

  • Birbury: Arlington Row

  • Birbury: Cross the bridge over river coln

  • Birbury: The rack isle

  • Birbury: The Arlington Mill

  • Birbury: Dine at Swan Hotel

  • Bourton-on-the-water: Costwold motoring museum

  • Bourton-on-the-water: afternoon snack or tea along river wind rush

  • Bourton-on-the-water: the perfumery

  • Bourton-on-the-water: Costwold Distillery

  • Stow-on-the-wold: St Edwards Church and the famed door

  • Stow-on-the-wold: The market square

  • Stow-on-the-wold: Stay at the stag on stow (lovely boutique hotel)
