WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT MENTON , FRANCE (IN PICTURES)

On my second day in South of France, I visited Menton. Menton has always being on my France bucket list but there was never enough time to visit. I made it a point to incorporate into the itinerary for this visit. Denton is located on the border of France and Italy and has some of the most beautiful sceneries you will encounter. The entire french Riviera is a delight and Menton is not different. I was staying in Nice and decided to make a day trip of Menton.

Best time to visit: Year round. Like most of this region, has warmer temperatures in the winter so it is a great escape from any cold temperature you may be suggested to this time of year. The first time I visited this region , it was middle of November and it was still warm enough for a dip in the ocean. I will still advise you pack a light jacket as the temperature drops in the evening.

Getting to Menton. If going directly to Menton, you will be flying into the Nice airport and taking either a bus or a train Menton.

Know before you go. While Menton is a French town, you will travel through Monte Carlo to get to Menton, so you could combine Menton and Monte Carlo into one trip or if you are visiting Nice, you can plan a day trip to visit both Monte Carlo and Menton.

For your itinerary: I did not have an itinerary for this visit, I really just wanted a quiet afternoon by the beach enjoying the views. However, I got some recommendations for hotels, restaurants and places to explore. Mirazur and Le Petit Pour were two recommended restaurants; the area around Marche des halles de Menton is recommended for great street food. If you visit in February , don’t miss the citrus festival which attracts visitors from around the world. Menton is known for its gardens; several were recommended including fontana rose garden ; Maria Serena Villa Garden; and Val Rahmeh Garden. If you only have time for one thing in Menton , then I recommend spending time at Plage des Sablettes - a stunning beach at the edge of old town with a stunning backdrop. Plage Rondelli and Plage du Fossan were also recommended.

I had a lovely afternoon in Menton and I have the pictures to prove it is a must visit and hopefully these convince you to add Menton to you France itinerary.
