Current Reading List

I used to love to read. There was a time, I would stay up all night just so I could get through a good read – Not sure when I stopped reading for pleasure – somewhere between staring at spreadsheets and studying for the CPA, I started to loathe the reading. I recently started a decluttering process in my apartment and I found some books I picked up a while back, but never got around to reading. I also picked up a few new additions based on recommendations by BooksandQuills and Vivianna Does Makeup. I picked these four to take on vacation with me last month. I did not get through all of then,  but I am glad to be getting back to reading for pleasure.

Boneman’s Daughters by Ted Dekker. This is one of those edge of your seat crime thriller. It started out a bit slow, but once you get past the first chapter and half, it is a page turner. Twist and turns you did not see coming. Makes sense that it was on the NYT bestseller's list. This was the only book I got through while on vacation and I am certain I will be reading it again.

Friendship Cake by Lynne Hinton. This one I picked up on a whimp. It was on sale at Barnes and Noble and it seemed like a nice, light read perfect for vacation. I have not read this book, but I am looking forward to it. It is a story of five ladies whose friendship blossoms over creating a cookbook. Will let you know how I like this.

# GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso. Alright, this one is a kicka** book. It is one that makes you wanna get up and get something done. I have not properly read this book, just flipped through it while waiting to board my flight from Dubai to Dallas. Written by the founder/CEO of the Nasty Gal brand - the book chronicles the beginnings and rise to prominence of the Nasty Gal brand. Looking forward to clearing my weekend calendar soon so I can get through this book.

Down Came the Rain by Brooke Shields. I have had this on my "to read list" for ages. It is a sort of memoir on dealing with postportum depression. I got about a quarter way through this book while I was away and I cannot wait to delve back in. It's written so well - it's as though you were sharing a cup of tea with Brooke Shields as she tells the story (I wish). Plus, it is so insightful on the issue of postportum depression without weighing you down with the science.

Thanks to a recent Amazon shopping spree and the Barnes and Noble summer sale, I have got a box of books I am looking forward to reading. These are the ones currently on my bedside table.

What books are you enjoying at the moment? Need more suggestions for my reading stash.
