I had one night in Dubai and I had two options: the pier or Dubai fountains at Dubai mall. By default, I ended up at Dubai fountain because I did not feel like getting dressed for the pier. Also, by going to the fountain, I could loop in window shopping at world's largest mall (aka Dubai Mall) and finally, check off a trip to the top of the world tallest building (Burj Khalifa) off my bucket list.
The cab from the hotel in old town Dubai dropped me off in front of the Palace hotel, a short walk from the fountains. The area is lined with hotels, shops, and restaurants and perfect for a leisure stroll. I took my time walking to the fountain - stopping every few minutes to admire the surrounding, including the sight of Burj Khalifa at night. I arrived at the fountain in time for the first show of the night. The fountains feature spectacular choreographed water dance routine every 30-minute intervals starting at 6 pm daily. I caught the first two shows before heading to the mall for dinner and major window shopping. I had a reservation at Burj Khalifa and had to rush through dinner to make my reservations. My tickets granted access to the 125th floor of the Burj Khalifa (aka at the top Burj Khalifa). The view of the city from the top of Burj Khalifa is breathtaking. I was up there for about two hours before calling it a day, but not before another fountain show and visiting the aquarium viewing area on the 1st floor of the mall. Here are some snapshots from the evening.
