THE WEEKEND LIST , 7 | THE SIMPLE THINGS
I took an unintentional break last week. I realized Saturday morning that all I had done that week was work, and the only thing I read was financial statements, which does not invoke a relaxing weekend read. In the last few weeks, I have been trying to find joys in the simple, non-complicated things, which is why I find myself rewatching episodes of The Office and Park n Rec. and looking forward to my walking laps around my Neighborhood park on the weekend.
I spend my walks blissfully meditating, reciting words of affirmation, or listening to a podcast or audiobook while getting my steps in. It is a joy to people-watch during my laps: the family enjoying a picnic out on Sunday mornings with their cute colorful chair; the older couple who find the same shaded spot to set out their lawn chairs and read; all the socially distance workout classes and the photographers capturing family portraits and Instagram influencers; It seems we are all doing what we can to find some normalcy. Observing these small, simple things have been a source of joy amid the unknowns. What is getting you through your days? This week’s offering of all the things that have made this week better; find which one feeds your soul.
Never stop saying her name - Breonna Taylor. Oprah is saying it very loudly.

“But in reality, the act of someone drowning is often silent. There's no screaming or communicating through wild hand gestures that they need saving. That person is doing everything they can just to keep their head above water, legs furiously kicking under the surface.” That quote from this article really struck a cord in and with me.
This week was world elephant day - just look at these stunning creatures.
I made mango lemonade this week using this recipe from Joy the Baker.
I am very late to the party but I have been watching - The Good Wife and I have to express my TV heartbreak after Season 5 , episode 10. This was such a good show - not sure why it took me so long to find it.
