PHOTO DIARY - GULHI ISLAND BIKINI BEACH // MALDIVES
If you are wondering what bikini beach is - then you have missed the series on my time in the Maldives including 8 thing to do on Maafushi Island ; Why I chose to stay on a local island and other tip ; and everything you need to know to plan your trip to the Maldives.
If you choose to stay on or visit a local island while visiting the Maldives, you should know that there are public beach and then there are bikini beach. The latter is open to tourist and does no have a strict dress code. The bikini beaches were established to local Islands to accommodate tourists who are not of the same religion and so don’t adhere to the more conservative dress code. Although I stayed on Maafushi Island - everyone recommended a take the 20 minute ferry to visit the Gulf Bikini beach as it was more extensive and impressive than the one on Maafushi. There is a restaurant on the beach if you get hungry; there are lounge chairs on the beach. You will have to bring your own beach towel and anything else you may require. From the moment I arrived I was glad I listened to their advise. I had planned to only spend three hours here and ended up spending six hours.
