On our last day in Rome, I had a few hours to myself after a canceled breakfast meeting. I decided it was the perfect opportunity to explore some parts of Rome solo. Even when I am traveling with friends, I enjoy some time to myself without maps or an itinerary. I chose Sant' Angelo area to explore of its proximity to Brassai and Pont Sant Angelo.
I headed out early so I could be back in time to head to the markets with B for some last minute gift and wine shopping. My first stop was at Brassai for coffee. After coffee, I made my way to Ponte Sant Angelo walking along River Tiber. I started at Ponte Umberto towards the Palace of Justice. Then I made my way to Castel Sant' Angelo where I spent some time before walking to Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and circling back to Pont Sant Angelo.
Pont Sant Angelo is possibly the most beautiful bridge I have ever seen. I spent almost half an hour on the bridge taking pictures and looking out towards the row of bridges that cut across the River Tiber. We had group plans for our last day in Rome, so I only had an hour and a half to myself.
Here are snapshots of my time in Sant Angelo (and the walk back to the hotel).
