New Beginnings, sort of
Three years ago - I made the very hard decision of closing my print shop; it was sad and humbling - I had poured a lot of time, love and money into it and it just was not working; so I closed it so I could fix all the things and relaunch a business I was proud of. It was intended to be temporary until I found the right supply chain to ensure the highest quality prints arrive at home in the shortest amount of time and to do that at an affordable price. That process ended up being a three year process (who knew).
At the start of 2020, it all finally came together and I started the process of relaunching; then COVID happened and like most of you, I hit pause on ALL my 2020 plans to just survive. In the time since lockdown started, I have had to reimagine 2020 and beyond and while many things have changed - the desire to make the world accessible remains; for a little while it will be less travel stories and guides and more images that transport you to a place and time.
THE SIMI EDIT PRINT SHOP is now open with old favorites and new additions from all the stunning locations I have been honored to visit the last three years. You can shop my collection via the link at the bottom of this page.
Here is this week’s offering of what I have discovered; treasured and delved into this week.
By now you may have heard of AOC’s response to a fellow congress member. If you have not go listen because “Treating people with dignity and respect is what makes a decent man. And when a decent man messes up, as we all are bound to do, he does apologize. Not to save face. Not to win a vote. He apologizes, genuinely, to repair and acknowledge the harm done, so that we can all move on.”.
I finished listening to Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Between the world and me this week. It has been on my read list for over three years - What a book. Add it to your reading list.
Towards the back end of Between The World and Me, the author recalls a trip to Paris and for the first time since this pandemic started the weight of not going (which is all I have done the last five years) hit me and really missed Paris. It reminded me of my first trip to Paris ! My first solo trip , ever and what I discovered on the other side of my fear.
Tell me you have heard this Hamilton inspired tribute to Dr. Fauci ! If not, pause here and go listen. Uh-bessed.
This week we said goodbye to a cicil rights icon and all round good human. He left us these words.
A faith perspective - affirmations for anxious heart - Steph Jolly wrote this faith piece that was as timely as anything else.
